Although Ellen had her peculiar ways I always appreciated knowing her and working with her. I especially appreciated her birthday cards. She always wanted me to print my sermon for Randolph--it was my pleasure. She recommending "Stomp" to Paula (my wife) and me which we thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved the Shakespeare festival which we started attending while we were there in Kilgore. We loved it. I will miss her and look forward to a reunion with her in the future.

I am very honored to have photographed Mrs. Watson when she was 99 years and I had hoped to photograph her again when she turned 100. She was an amazing woman and I enjoyed her company and conversations. My heartfelt condolences to the Watson family during this time.

Ellen Watson was an institution and one of the most caring, giving people I ever knew. She and her talented son are responsible for every career opportunity I have been given in Texas. I owe her more than can be repaid in one lifetime. We should all aspire to achieve her accomplishments, her elegance, her honesty and her devotion. Knowing her for the past 53 years has been one of the blessings of my life. I will always miss her. My sincerestbsympathy to Joe and all of Mrs. Watson’s family.

Dr. Watson hired me in 1971. It was later that I got to know and love his beautiful wife. Mrs. Watson's sweet smile and warm, wonderful personality endeared her to everyone she met. Visiting with her--especially at the Texas Shakespeare Festival--was such a joy. Her pride of and love for her family were among her favorite topics. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
