NELDA ROSE ALLEN
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Nelda Rose Allen, 70, of Liberty City, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Ralph Rudy officiating. Interment will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mrs. Allen completed her earthly journey on Saturday, January 28, 2017, in Kilgore.
Nelda was born on November 10, 1946 in Longview to Herman and Pauline Smith. She graduated from Sabine High School she received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and then her Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Nelda taught school in Gladewater for 10 years and then in Sabine for 32 years until her retirement from teaching. She loved children and began driving the special needs school bus for Sabine ISD. She met the love of her life, John Allen, in junior high school and they dated throughout high school and then they married and spent the next 49 years making many loving and happy memories together. Nelda was a longtime member of McCary’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Sisters In Christ and their food pantry. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator and friend. Part of Nelda’s legacy would be the many students that she influenced and inspired to attain to graduation and she will forever be remembered and loved by them.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, John Allen of Liberty City; children, Rhonda Kirkpatrick and her husband Joel of Crosbyton, Justin Allen of Liberty City; grandchildren, Tylo and Zack Kirkpatrick of Crosbyton; sister, Earlann Ammons of New London; nieces, Penny Pike and her husband Mitchell of Longview, Jennifer Lee and her husband Richard of Longview. Also left to carry on her legacy are numerous former students, friends and other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 until 8 in the evening.
