Mr. Russell George Spicher passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017, in Kilgore, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Russell was born on November 9, 1949, in Espanola, NM, to Marland W. and Litha Higgins Spicher. He obtained two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Engineering (his primary fields of interest being metrology and quality control). The first degree was awarded by California Polytechnic State University; San Luis Obispo, California; and the second by the University of California, San Diego. Russell served in the United States Air Force Reserve during the Vietnam War. He was an avid car enthusiast who enjoyed reading, restoring automobiles, and listening to light jazz and classical music.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Russell Spicher of Jenks, OK, and Beverly Spicher of Lubbock, TX; sister, Jan Cook and husband, John, of Benbrook, TX; and brother Richard Spicher and wife, Linda, of Ponce Inlet, Florida. Also left to cherish him are numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
An informal memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday,
February 18, 2017, at the Cook residence. Burial will be the following Saturday,
February 25, 2017, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK.
The family has suggested donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
