Ms. Mildred Rebecca “Millie” Wilson, 66, of Liberty City passed away Monday, May 14 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 23, 1951 in Louisburg, North Carolina to Owen Lee Wilson, Sr. and Blanchie Daugherty Wilson.
Millie grew up in Tampa, Florida and was a life-long fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1969 and spent a lot of her early years working in dispatch for Groendyke and finally in administration for CSI-Compressco. Millie enjoyed Nascar, cross-stitching, and was an active member of Avalon Faire. Most importantly, she was an extremely devoted and loving mother and MawMaw. Millie was loved by all who knew her and will be missed tremendously.
Millie was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Renea Sawyer; granddaughter, Celeste Rebecca Sawyer; mother, Blanchie Wilson; siblings, Evelyn Taylor (Burle), Alice Stephens (Jack), Jo Ann Dixon (James), Owen Wilson, Jr., and Rachel Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 4002 FM 726, Gilmer, TX 75645. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Millie’s honor to a cancer charity of your choice.
