Charles Newton Baucom passed on to be with our Lord on July 3 at the age of 86. Services in his memory will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Rev. Michael “Big Mike” Heron and Rev. Daniel Ledford officiating. The interment will follow at Danville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, July 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Charles was born on March 5, 1932 in Kaufman, Texas to Gladys and Roy Baucom. On December 4, 1953, he married Frances Allene Spruill, and together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage and raised three daughters, to whom he affectionately referred to as “Charlie’s Angels”. Throughout his life, Charles made numerous friends and was a blessing to so many. He is remembered for his generous heart, warm smile, and good-natured disposition. He captured the hearts of many with his humorous stories and dozens of “Charlie-isms”.

Mr. Charlie had a passion for his work and spent over 50 years in the crude oil industry. For the last 30 years of his career, he was employed by Eastex Crude Company in Leesburg, Texas. There, he built friendships that withstood the test of time. Even after his retirement and throughout his long illness, the folks at Eastex never failed to remember Mr. Charlie and to express their love for him. The family wishes to thank Tom and Karen Hanks, and all of our Eastex family, for the love and support they provided for so many years.

Mr. Baucom was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys Baucom; his wife, Allene Baucom; daughter, Glenda Beth Hileman; his brother, John Baucom, one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in law: Pamela Kay Heron and Mike of Splendora, Texas; Rebecca Charline Shelton and Steve, of Tomball, Texas; and Ken Hileman of Pflugerville, Texas. He was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his three brothers: Roy, Eugene, and Marvin; and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as a loving family and many friends.

Charles was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 2105 Wilson Road, Humble, Texas, 77396.
