Services for Mary Jewel Smith, 92, of Liberty City will be 10AM Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Reverend Glenn Douglas Barton and Bro. Roy Hardin will officiate. Interment will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Smith died Friday, March 5, 2010 in Kilgore.
Mary Jewel Barton was born on August 1, 1917 in Murchison, Texas to the late Robert and Dacie Still Barton. Mary attended Leverett’s Chapel Schools. Her passion in life was her family, and was known for her fine cooking. Mary was a dedicated and longtime member of Full Gospel Assembly Church in Kilgore. In her spare time, challenging the family and dear friends to dominoes, 42, and Canasta was of great joy to her.
Survivors include her children, Marion and wife Jena Smith of Henderson, Rita and husband John Baird of Liberty City, Glenda Aaron of Kilgore; grandchildren, Brad Smith, Russell Smith, Felicia Zuniga, Rhonda Baird, David Smith, Carol Bender, Michael Aaron, Darell Aaron, Martha Smith, Yvette Davis, Nolan McCool; Great Grandchildren include, Hayden Zuniga, Tristan Zuniga, Shyann Farmer, Sarah Bender, Cristal Bender, Timothy Davis, Amanda Smith, Rebecca McCool, Colin McCool; other survivors include her brother, Glenn and Lily Barton of Kilgore, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband of almost fifty years, J.B. Smith, son Wayne Smith, daughter Evelyn McCool, and granddaughter Yvonne McCool.
Visitation will be six to eight Monday, March 8, 2010 at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
