Dawn Reńe Poe

Funeral services for Ms. Dawn Reńe Poe, 54, of Kilgore, will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Longview First Church with Reverend James Moore officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Kilgore. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Friday, March 26 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Dawn passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Dawn was born on September 4, 1966 in Amarillo, Texas. She was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Grimes and Donna Jean Cooley. Dawn was a 1984 graduate of Kilgore High School and attended Kilgore College and completed her degree at the University of Texas @ Tyler. Dawn began her teaching career at KISD as a 3rd grade elementary teacher and ended her career as a 7th grade math teacher. She was a member of Longview First Church. Dawn’s passion was traveling. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and baking. Dawn will be remembered as being spunky, very caring and a great listener.

She was preceded in death by her father William F. Grimes.

Dawn is survived by her fiance Darrel McAdams, daughters, Megan Poe (Lino Huerta) of Flint and Haley Poe of Kilgore; mother and father Donna Jean Cooley and Dennis of Kilgore; brother, Stephen Grimes and wife Angie of Kilgore; sister, Tonya Cox and husband Randy of Liberty City; and Blanca Luna-Torres; several nieces, nephews and other family and many friends.
