Services for Mrs. Johnnie L. Goolsby Brogoitti , 97 of Longview will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Post Oak Road Church of Christ with Dale Hendricks officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will follow in Danville cemetery in Kilgore. Mrs. Brogoitti completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at her home in Longview surrounded by her loving family.
Johnnie was born on October 9, 1925 to Otis and Myrtle Goolsby, in the community of Pritchett in Upshur County at the home of her maternal grandparents. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and attended Texas State Women’s University for 2 years.
She married the love of her life, David Brogoitti, in 1946, when they were both 20 years old. They spent the next 66 years and 11 months making many loving happy memories, until David’s passing in 2013. Johnnie loved her family more than anything and her favorite times were spent at family gatherings. She was an amazing seamstress, cook, puzzle solver in addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Johnnie accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at the age of 12, in the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. She was a long-time and faithful member of the Post Oak Rd. Church of Christ in Kilgore. In her words, “With always trying to live for God and being thankful for the many blessings that He has provided I have had a great life, beginning with a great, God-fearing, and loving mother.”
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy Brogoitti, and wife, Ann Brogoitti, of Longview; grandchildren, Julie Brogoitti Woods and husband Quentin Woods, of Longview and Clint Brogoitti and wife Erin Brogoitti, of Kilgore; great-grandchildren Elle Woods, Brynn Woods, Grant Woods, Claire Brogoitti, and Caroline Brogoitti; brother-in-law Andre Brogoitti and wife Glenda Brogoitti, sister-in-law Sharon Weeks and husband Bill Weeks, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Brogoitti, parents, Otis and Myrtle Gooslby, and brother, Elwyn Goolsby.
The Brogoitti family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Brogoitti’s caretaker, friend and adopted family member, Johnnie Britain, for taking excellent care of her over the last decade.
