Vaughn Bishop Monigold
Private family graveside service for Mr. Vaughn Bishop Monigold, 83, of Tyler will be held at the Kilgore Cemetery with Reverend Jim Storms officiating. Vaughn was born on January 20, 1937 in Erie, PA. He graduated from Overton High School in 1955, attended Kilgore College and later graduated from North Texas State College in 1959 with a degree in Journalism. Vaughn had a long career in journalism, working at the Kilgore News Herald, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas Tech University Public Information Office, Dallas Times Herald, Van Cronkhite & Malloy Public Relations,and City of Lubbock Public Information Office. Vaughn was a professional photographer owning his own studio in Lubbock and Tyler. He held a Master of Photography Degree and Photographic Craftsman Degree from PPA. Vaughn held several offices at TPPA and served as its President in 2000 . He did volunteer work with the Rotary Club and USS Bennington Family Auxiliary, where his father had served in the Navy. Vaughn served in the Navy Reserves for 12 years.
Vaughn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor Conatser Monigold of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli Susanne Schaap and Dan of Canyon; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Edward “Danny” Hendrie and Rachel of Lubbock; sister, Gae Honzel of Greenville; uncle, James A. “Jim” Monigold of California; two grandchildren, Sara Winfield and husband Philip of Richland
Hills, and Aaron Schaap and wife Amy of North Richland Hills.
