Albert Lee Garner, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 18, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on March 21, 1931, in Jacksboro, Texas, Albert lived a life full of love, laughter, and accomplishment.
A devoted family man, Albert took immense pride in his loved ones. He is survived by his children, Caryn Couch, her husband Travis, Alan Garner, and his wife Cathy. His legacy continues with his grandchildren: Jennifer (Cal) Sparks, Nicole (Eddy) Nicholson, Cayce (John) Rutledge, Amy (Ben) Emge, and Alexander (Morgan) Garner, as well as his precious great-grandchildren: Callie, Colt, and Cooper Sparks; Elliott and Graham Rutledge; Avery Nicholson; and Penelope, Eleanor, and Opal Emge.
Albert devoted an impressive 38 years of his life to Halliburton, where he built a reputable career before retiring as a District Manager to embrace the joys of family and leisure. His skill and dedication made a significant impact during his tenure, a testament to his strong work ethic. A proud veteran, Albert served in the U.S. Army, embodying the spirit of service that defined his life., An avid sports enthusiast, he was a passionate Sabine Cardinals fan, rarely missing a game, especially when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren hit the field. His love for sports also extended to gardening, golf, and trout fishing, hobbies that brought him peace and happiness.
Albert was known for his vibrant personality. With his intelligence, quick wit, and excellent memory, he often entertained family and friends by reciting poems, jokes, and riddles. He had a talent for making everyone around him smile. His strength and warmth were rooted in values instilled during his formative years, nurtured by his beloved parents, Daniel David Garner and Esther Cleo Holt Garner, and guided throughout his life by the memory of his late wife and best friend of 65 years, Anne Waldrum Garner, and his siblings: Eloise McFarland, Anne Hodge, Dorothy Wallace, Margaret Van Wormer, Joyce Wendt, Dan Garner, Jr., Jack Holt Garner, James Andrew Garner, and William Robert Garner.
Albert proudly completed his bucket list, a testament to his zest for life. He had cherished dreams of watching his great grandson’s football game and participating in his civic duty by voting for Donald Trump. His determination and fulfillment of these goals encapsulate the rich and rewarding life he led.
As a dedicated member of the Chandler Street Church of Christ, Albert's faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him a network of support and community. His spirit continues to inspire those who knew him; his love for family and friends will forever remain in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM and burial at Danville Cemetery.
