Services for Alice E. Haynes, 95 of Liberty City will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Keith Wilkerson and Rev. Dr. Paul Michael Vacca officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday afternoon at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Alice E. Haynes went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Mrs. Haynes was born Valentines Day, February 14, 1929 to George E. and Blondel J. Purcell in El Dorado, Arkansas. The family moved to Longview, Texas in 1937. She attended Pine Tree High School, Class of 1946, graduating at 17 years of age. She was a member of the Pine Tree High School band, the National Honor Society, football princess and several school clubs. The following year she married her high school sweetheart. They were married more than forty years and were blessed with three children.
In 1960 Alice began a career in banking at First National Bank, Longview, Texas and continued her education through Kilgore College and the American Institute of Banking. She retired in 1995 as Vice President in operations at Citizens Bank in Kilgore, Texas. After retirement, sitting down was not in her plans. She made many new friends who were a delight to her. During her lifetime she traveled to many places of interest, including the Statue of Liberty, D.C., Canada, Salt Lake City, Niagara Falls, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Central and South America and others. For more than sixty years she taught and served in Baptist Churches in the Greggton, Longview and Liberty City areas. She was much involved in ministering to others.
Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and their husbands.
She is survived by Tommy R. Haynes, son and Jason K. Haynes, grandson, Ashton Depaepe, great granddaughter and husband, Anthony, and great great grandchildren, Sofia, Jocelynn and Dawson, Vicki K. Haynes, Daughter and Al Boles, Jennifer Beam, granddaughter and husband, John, Julia Beam, great granddaughter, Teddy L. Haynes, son and Robin Huskey, Kevin C. Haynes, grandson and wife, Rachel and Everett Riley Haynes, great grandson, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She is also survived by her Very Special Friend, Russell Tompkins, who has been a blessing to her and all the family.
A special "Thank You" goes out to Heart to Heart Hospice personnel who have taken care of this amazing woman for the past few months, and to the wonderful, caring, and compassionate staff of Wesley Oaks Memory Care who made the past few months as easy as possible.
