Albert Allen Ferguson peacefully passed away on July 19, 2024, at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, reuniting with his Lord and Savior and the love of his life, Joan. His journey here on Earth may have come to an end, but the echoes of his kindness and dedication will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on June 27, 1950, in Henderson, Texas, Allen was the cherished son of Albert Tatum Ferguson and Maude Davidson. He proudly graduated from Kilgore High School and soon answered the call of duty, serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 until 1971. After returning home to Kilgore, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a Roughneck and Pumper in the Oil Field and contributed his talents to Chem Solve and Dusty Rhodes Ford along the way.
A longtime member of the Highland Park Assembly of God family, Allen’s commitment to faith was evident through his countless acts of service. Whether as a Sound Tech, Security Officer, Sunday School Teacher, or Deacon, he approached each role with a servant’s heart, always eager to lend a helping hand. Allen and Joan shared a special bond, often spending treasured afternoons together fishing, where the tranquility of the water mirrored the peace they found in each other’s company.
In his passing, Allen joyfully reunites with his beloved wife of 51 years, Joan Marie Ferguson, along with his parents, brothers Billy Jack Ferguson, Wayne Ferguson, Kenneth McNeese, and daughters Gina Rene Ferguson and Amanda Lynn Ferguson.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his son and daughter-in-law Archie Allen and Crystal Ferguson of Kilgore, granddaughter Sabrina Ferguson of Kilgore, his sister and brother-in-law Linda and Jim Cowan of Kilgore, sisters Reba Whatley, Kathy Goff, and Sandy Tinney, brothers Joe Davidson and Johnny Davidson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Each life that Allen touched is better for having known him, and all who had the privilege to be a part of his life will carry his spirit with them, holding fast to the beautiful memories they shared.
We invite you to join us in a heartfelt celebration of life on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at ten o'clock in the morning, held at Highland Park Assembly of God in Kilgore. This gathering will honor the cherished memories we hold dear, surrounded by love and support.
