Barbara Singletary

February 21, 1930 — January 6, 2021

Barbara Singletary, wife of Bert (Mickey) Singletary, former Golf Professional at Meadowbrook Country Club in Kilgore, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2021, in Austin, Texas. Age 90 at her death, Barbara was born on February 21, 1930 in Goose Creek, Texas.
A longtime resident of Kilgore, Texas with her husband, Mickey and family, Barbara had a career as a legal and administrative secretary and administrative assistant until her retirement from the former Texas Water Commission in 1991. She spent many hours on the golf course with friends and family and at the bridge table with her mother and friends. She and Mickey devoted many hours to supporting their children (Lee, Robert and Molly) in their junior golf, high school and college pursuits. She had a fondness for a certain daytime television drama series (Days of Our Lives) as well as the great classic movies with stars of the day John Wayne, James Stewart, Marlon Brando, Humphrey Bogart and more. Also, any soundtrack by Henry Mancini was a favorite. She was always the life of the party!
She moved to Austin in her later years to be close to her daughter, Molly, where she met new friends and carried on the bridge tradition. At the time of her death, she was residing in the Ledgestone Assisted Living Community in Austin where she had lived for the last few years.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Lee Singletary and wife Jill of Plano, Texas; Robert Singletary and wife Kristy of Flower Mound, Texas, their children Trent and Jessica, her daughter Molly Cost and husband Terry of Austin, Texas, their son Mickey, her younger brother, Robert E. Lee and wife Mary of Reece, Texas and their children Rob and Ron.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Carmel Lee, her husband Bert (Mickey) Singletary, and her younger brother Jimmy Lee.
Barbara was cremated at her request and a private ceremony will be held at the location where she wanted her ashes dispersed.
