Benton Custer

Graveside services for Benton Custer, 66, will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Custer passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Tyler.

Benton was born on March 14, 1957 in Gladewater, Texas to the late Arthur Benton Custer, Sr. and Lillian Virginia Clark. Benton attended Kilgore schools and was a graduate of Kilgore High School in 1975. Benton was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for Closure Systems International for over 30 years. He enjoyed taking family vacations to Walt Disney World, enjoyed camping and cheering on his granddaughters in all their activities. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kelly Custer.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Custer of Kilgore; daughter, Brandi Heimer and husband Chris of Liberty City; sister, Karen Ball and husband Richard of Lone Star, Texas; granddaughters, Ava Heimer and Caroline Heimer; uncle, Steve Yocom of Kilgore and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
