Billy John Greenville, affectionately known as "Pop Pop," passed away on March 31, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on March 20, 1947, in Lufkin, Texas, Billy lived the last several years in the Longview area.
Billy's professional journey was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated Texas Family Restaurant in Gilmer for many years. Always welcoming the “old men” of the round table, or serving Sunday buffett. But he could always be found outback cooking!
Additionally, he founded the Audible Hearing Center, where he served individuals, using his expertise to enhance their quality of life through better hearing. However wouldn’t ever wear his own hearing aids.
A man who truly enjoyed the simple things in life. Hunting, fishing, cooking and coffee! Billy was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to get a smile out of someone. Above all, he treasured the time spent with friends, family and people that were considered family. Always cherishing the special moments that brought them together.
His remarkable journey included serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his character and forged his commitment to serve and protect.
Billy is survived by his loving daughter, Christy Greenville of Dallas; granddaughter, Morgan "Pumpkin" Greenville of Longview; daughter-in-law, Sara Greenville of Longview; brother, Jon Greenville of Dallas as well as many other loving family and friends. He will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him and will fondly be remembered for his fun nature.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Genie Rue Greenville; son, Bill Wesley Greenville; and his “sweet ex wife” Charlcie Greenville Penny, the mother of his children.
