BOB CORRIE

A Homegoing Celebration for Bob Corrie, 84, of Overton will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 15, 2019, at First Pentecostal Church in Kilgore with Rev. James Boatman officiating. Interment will follow in the Overton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1pm until 2pm, prior to the service. Mr. Corrie went home to be with the One for whom he lived his whole life, Jesus Christ, on Friday, March 8, 2019 in Overton.

Bob was born on August 11, 1934, in New London, to Calvin Harley and Loretta Corrie. He graduated from New London High School in 1952 and from Federal Institute Business College in Tyler in 1956. He worked for the Cincinnati Shoe Company form 1956 – 1996 as s sales manager in Ohio, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, Missouri, Virginia, Louisiana and Texas. Bob was lifelong member of the United Pentecostal Church International, attending First Pentecostal Church in Kilgore since 1951. He loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart and was a worshipper and door keeper in the house of God until The Lord called him home. Bobby was known for giving candy to children everywhere. He went to Mexico and would pass out candy and share the love of Jesus to the children and people of Mexico for many years. He always loved and gave to many especially neglected people and animals. Bob was also known for his singing ability, as a family member said, “You have a voice that the angels are envious of as it is heard throughout heaven.” He will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives that he has touched.

Left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews, Le’Sann Oglethorpe and husband Terry of Montgomery, Fred Corrie and wife Lorraine of New York, Janene Corrie of Shreveport, Marlisa Carter of Gladewater, Terisa Smith and husband Daryl of Longview, LaNell Sonners and husband Michael of Colorado. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, church family and other loving family members.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth, Calvin and Jack Corrie, as well as a sister Margaret Belew.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Pentecostal Church in Kilgore 516 Fritz-Swanson Rd., Kilgore, Texas, 75662.
