Memorial services for Bobbie Jean Wright Grace, 87 will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Pirtle cemetery at two o’clock in the afternoon with Reverend Lisa Mayhugh officiating. Bobbie completed her earthly journey on March 25, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Bobbie was born on August 15, 1935, in Overton, Texas to Albert Virgil Wright and Hallie Toten Wright. She was a proud member of the New London graduating class of 1953. After High School Bobbie attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Bobbie taught English at Sabine Middle School, Commerce Independent School District, and in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was ambitious, driven, and determined to say the least. Bobbie continued her career in education as an Education Service Officer in the United States Armed Forces in the Department of Defense. During this time, she was one of the few women in her field. She took immense pride and joy in her work and impacted countless others’ lives and careers. Bobbie had the opportunity to travel all over the world throughout her career; France, England, and Korea to name a few. She retired from the Department of Defense after thirty-five years as a GS-13 ST10. She loved literature and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others. Bobbie’s hobbies included reading, staying informed on current events, and spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons James C. Grace of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Bryan Grace of Austin, Texas, Jason Wright Grace and wife Meghan Grace of San Antonio, Texas and sister-in-law Carol Wright Smith of Spring Texas; grandchildren Summer Grace of Austin, Texas, Amy Mitchell of Cleveland, Texas, and Paul Hennes of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Bobbie was reunited with her parents, Albert Virgil Wright and Hallie Toten Wright, and siblings Maydell Wright, Virgil Wright and wife Daulene, Billie Wright Hale and husband Floyd C. Hale and James C. Wright.
