Carolyn Watkins Kennedy

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Watkins Kennedy, 88, of Kilgore will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Kilgore with Reverend Jeneille LaGrone and Reverend Bill Blanks officiating. The family will receive friends before services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private family burial will follow at the Kilgore Cemetery

Carolyn was born on July 29, 1933, in Healton, Oklahoma. She was a 1952 graduate of Kilgore High School, attended Kilgore College where she was a Rangerette in the 1953 line, and also attended TWU. Carolyn was a member of the First Christian Church, Church Women Fellowship, Kilgore Women’s Club, and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed her time with family, painting, needlework, sewing, and loved to play bridge and candy crush.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnestine and Alvin Coleman, father, James Howard Watkins; husband, Clay Kennedy, Jr; son, Lee Carlton Hunter.

Carolyn is survived by her children, James A. Hunter and life-partner Matthew Hanson of Houston, Cara Morton and husband, Dixon of Kilgore, and Leanne Hunter and husband Nicholas Sweet of Kilgore; grandchildren, Ja Bell and Dr. Emily Hood of Kilgore, Carrie McKinney and Matt of Kilgore, and Chance Morton of Kilgore; great grandchildren, Ever Lea Sweet, Adalee Grace Sweet, and Caroline Cross McKinney; siblings, Kitty Lee Borah of Houston, James “Jimmy” Coleman of Enid, Oklahoma, James Howard “Jimmy” Watkins, William Douglas “Bill” Watkins, and Tina Dynese Watkins Swanson, all from California; several nieces and nephews.
