Charles Edward Lewis, Sr.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Charles Edward Lewis, Sr. are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. A celebration of life will be held at a later date hosted by the Lewis family.


Mr. Lewis was born on November 21, 1948, in Odessa, Texas to the parentage of the late Sammy Lee Lewis and Fannie Mae Lewis. Charles completed his earthly journey on Monday, August 7, 2023, in Longview, Texas.


Charles Lewis received Christ at an early age and was baptized. He attended St. Matthew Baptist Church when he resided in Odessa, Texas and New Life Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas for the last part of his life.


Charles attended Ector County ISD schools. He was a proud graduate of Ector High School in Odessa, Texas, class of 1967. After school he married Frankie (Sumuel) Lewis in June of 1967. They were married for thirteen years and to this union they were blessed with three children. He married Jacqueline D. Lewis in 1980 until her death in 2005. He was blessed with a bonus son from this union.


Charles started working for Sun Oil Company in 1972. He diligently worked for Sun Oil Company for seventeen and a half years. In 1980 he was man of the year in Odessa, Texas. After Charles’s move to California, he worked for the National Steele and Ship Building Company for seven and a half years. When he moved back to Texas he began working for Chicago Steele and Iron in Tyler. He worked for this company for eight years before his retirement in 2010. Mr. Lewis was a dedicated worker to say the least. His hobbies included watching sports of all kinds, attending church and spending time with his loved ones. Charles will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Mr. Lewis was reunited with his parents, Sammy L. Lewis Sr., and Fannie Mae Lewis; Sister, Marilyn Jean Lewis; Brothers, Arthur Randall Lewis, and Garry Dewayne Lewis Sr.


Left to cherish his memory; Sons, Charles Edward Lewis, Jr., of Dallas, TX, and Hyland Demetrius King (Shelley), of Big Sandy, TX; two daughters, Arica Shantell Lewis, of Rhome, TX, and Natasha Denise Lewis, of Lewisville, TX; Grandsons, Jermil R. Lewis (Veronica) and Natyron D. Lewis, both of Odessa, TX, and Raphael Lewis, of San Antonio, TX; Granddaughters, Kandyce M. Lewis (Aaron), of Kennedale, TX, Ke’Asia M. Shields, of Rhome TX, and Anaisha S. Lewis, of Lewisville, TX ; Brothers, Jimmy L. Lewis, of Missouri City, TX, Sammy L. Lewis, Jr., (Doris), Ivan Ray Lewis (JoAnn), Tony D. Lewis (Peggy), Eric W. Lewis all of Odessa, TX, and Anthony Alexander, of Dallas, TX; Sisters, Tammy Alexander, of Round Rock, TX and Pam Alexander, of Dallas, TX, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
