Charley Edward Tanner, II, born on October 31, 1952, in New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on January 29, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was a devoted and caring husband to Linda Tanner, with whom he shared a strong bond and marriage for 28 years.
Charley's professional life was dedicated to his work as a mechanic, where he utilized his skills and knowledge to serve the community for many years. His commitment to service extended beyond his profession; he also proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating his dedication to his country. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and Charley was known for his loving character and his deep care for family. He was a family man who treasured spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Tanner of Arp, Texas; his daughter, Donna Knight and her husband Bill of Fort Worth, Texas; his stepson, Damon Nichols and his wife Denice of Arp, Texas; his brothers, Jimmy Tanner and his wife Tawanah of Kilgore, Texas, and Steve Tanner and his wife Patty of Kilgore, Texas; his sister, Diann Nelson and her husband Bruce of Leverett's Chapel, Texas; as well as fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Addie Tanner, and by his stepson, Dustin Nichols.
A graveside service to honor Charley's life will be held on January 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. David Rudd officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
