Claudette Mae Nix Thompson left her earthly home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2020 surrounded by her family at a Longview hospital. Our family is certain she immediately began singing and dancing as she entered the pearly gates into Heaven.
Claudette, or Tiny was born on April 18, 1944 to the late Otis Claude and Vera Maureen Nix in Kilgore. Claudette was a graduate of Kilgore High School. On January 21, 1963 she married the love of her life – James. The two were examples of true love for almost 58 years- they were best friends. James still picked her flowers and took her on dates, Claudette still made his coffee every morning. Over the last several years, Claudette was fighting a tough battle with diabetes and heart disease- her love was always right by her and battled with her, he never left her side. The two were known for waking up at 2 in the morning to sit and eat cookies while talking about their memories together and the amazing life they built.
Claudette loved the Lord and began every morning listening to her gospel cassette tapes, while getting ready and cleaning the house- and drinking her cup of coffee. We loved hearing her sing- Tiny was blessed with the voice of an angel. She made the best chocolate pie, ever. Anytime you went to Ninny and Poppy’s house- you left with something—groceries, decorations, sweets, and even makeup for her girls- Ninny wouldn’t let you leave empty handed. She had the kindest soul, gave the best hugs and never met a stranger. Claudette enjoyed being outside with James and working in their yard- they always have the most beautiful flowers. Claudette also loved her animals- ending each day with Vienna Weenies and certain foods in the cabinet were not to be touched because “those are for my dogs.” We would giggle and she would let us have the snacks anyway. Her greatest joy was being around her grandbabies- she loved them so much and they all adored their Ninny. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
We are so saddened by the loss of our beloved Ninny, but rejoice in the fact that she is healed and seeing her parents, siblings, animals, and other loved ones in Heaven.
