The family would like to welcome friends and family to 300 Harris St. Kilgore, Texas, on Friday, April 7, 2023, from four until six in the evening for a celebration of life. Cory passed away on March 30, 2023.
Cory was born on May 21, 1984, to Patrick Steven Murphy and Tena Kay Murphy in Houston, Texas. Cory was an enigmatic son and big brother growing up. He grew into a young man that would make lifelong friendships with those he met in school. He started working at Wendy’s when he was 16 years old and took pride in working for anything he had throughout his life. After Cory graduated from Gladewater High School in 2002, he attended DeVry University with the intent to go into the field of science and technology. While away from his hometown Cory knew quickly that college path was not the place he wanted to be, and he returned home to be with his family. In 2005 Cory met Tiffany Ross (Hablinski) in their hometown of Gladewater, Texas. Cory and Tiffany went on to have one child, Jacob Francis Murphy. After the birth of his son Cory went on to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the crane industry. During this time in his life, he enjoyed being a family man, traveling with his job, and meeting friends everywhere he traveled. Cory was a bright light in the lives of anyone he met, he was known for his big heart, loyalty, and goofy sense of humor. Cory would help those in need at any opportunity and was known to give the “shirt off his back”, or more realistically the shoes off his feet. In his free time Cory enjoyed fishing, golfing, music, and passionately supporting the Longhorns. Cory lived for the moments in life that he spent with his son and being a wonderful Kuckle (Uncle).
Cory leaves behind his son Jacob Francis Murphy, father Patrick Steven Murphy & wife Cindy Murphy, sister Keely Kay Murphy & husband William Lee Herring, brother Cody James Hicks, sister Sherry Lynn Pipes (Murphy), brother Patrick Steven Murphy Jr., his nieces Leiken Jade Murphy, Nora Kay Herring, and Isla Gail Herring. Cory also leaves behind a special woman who was in his life, Mikkie MicMillan.
Cory was preceded in death by his mother Tena Kay Murphy, grandparents SMSGT Elmer Francis Hervey & Virginia Gay Hervey.
