Daniel Eugene Stalcup

Daniel Eugene Stalcup, 77, of Kilgore, Texas passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. Dan was born on June 24, 1946, to Aussie James “AJ” Stalcup and Lucille English Stalcup in Longview, Texas. Dan graduated from Kilgore High School in 1965 and attended the University of Houston. He then worked for a brokerage firm in New York City before joining the U.S. Army where he served in the 1st Aviation Brigade. Dan was a very proud Vietnam veteran and never left the house without his Vietnam veterans cap sitting honorably atop his head. After military service Dan returned home to Kilgore and worked for Kilgore Construction Company before joining the staff at Kilgore College. He served for 35 years and retired in 2006 as the manager of the KC bookstore.

In 1971, Dan married the love of his life, Phyllis Haenisch Stalcup. They went on to have three children, John, Katie, and Denise. After retirement, Dan enjoyed spending time with family, watching football, and his most favorite of all… being a pawpaw. He was known for his quick wit and contagious laugh.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and loving mother-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Stalcup; son, John Wesley Stalcup, and daughters Katherine “Katie” Parrymore, and Denise Rae and Jake Ferrell; grandchildren Kaytlynn Fincher and spouse Preston Fincher. Colton Stalcup. Brendan Bingham and spouse Ashley Bingham. Rae Bingham. Madalynn Parrymore, and Dylan Ferrell. Wesley Parker, and one great-granddaughter Delaney Bingham; brother AJ Stalcup, Jr. and spouse Dorothy, sister Genele Eichler and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
