David J. Detten

David J. Detten, age 61, passed peacefully in the comfort of his loving wife Mikki Detten on January 18, 2021. His final days were showered with love from his three wonderful children Shawna Belobraydic, Jacob Detten and Jonathan Detten, along with his daughter-in-law Thy Detten, granddaughter Camryn Detten and prayers of peace from his grandson Blake Belobraydic.

David lived a very rich life filled with love, compassion, strength and fellowship with his family and friends. His genuine personality reached numerous hearts and was the foundation that built countless relationships throughout several communities. No one could escape his quick wit that would put a smile on anyone’s face and his thoughtfulness knew no bounds.
With confidence and an unwavering temperament, he led his family and coworkers through times of struggle which earned him the respect of many. As his grandson Clayton Detten would say, “he was a devout Christian that lived in the word, a husband first, a father of patience and a grandfather full of wisdom.”

Though his spirit is walking alongside the Lord, his memory and the sound of his laughter lives on through the ones that loved him most. We will miss you greatly and cherish you in our hearts forever. "


David is survived by his wife, Mikki Detten of Texarkana; children, Shawna Belobraydic of Tyler, Jacob Detten of Dallas, and Jonathan Detten and wife Thy of Dallas; mother, Katherine Detten Aubin of Houston; sister, Janet Magee and husband Larry of Barrington, IL; brothers, Darryl Detten and wife Teresa of Longview, and Dale Detten and wife Sandra of Page, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Detten.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Keith Wilkerson officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home before services from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview.
