Edna Mae Guin

Edna Mae Guin

Edna Mae Guin, 98, of Kilgore, completed her earthly journey on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Longview. Funeral Services at the graveside will be held at 2 pm, on Wednesday, October 5, 2021, in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clay Strawn officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 until 8 in the evening.

Edna was born on June 3, 1923, in East Point, La., to Ed and Cora Elliott. Edna loved to fish, hunt, garden and raising various species of animals. Her love for these came from necessity. Growing up in central Louisiana in a large family, hunting, fishing, raising animals and gardening were the activities necessary to survive, and she developed a true love and skill for these activities. Doing these things with her children and grandchildren were some of the happiest times of her life. Edna was an excellent cook and she enjoyed cooking for her family and those in the community. She never met a stranger, and had a servant’s heart, always taking care of those in need. Edna’s generosity, loving spirit, and kindness will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Johnny Martin Evans and his wife Diana of Spring, Linda Fay Metcalf and her husband Dan of Elysian Fields, Tommy Glenn Evans, and his wife Cheryl Ann of Liberty City. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.

Edna was reunited with her parents, husband MR Guin, daughter Virginia Mae Price, sons Jimmy Ray and Bobby Ray Evans.
