Elizabeth was born on February 23, 1950, in Longview, Texas, to the late J.S.”John” Stanley and Johnie Mae Davidson. She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1968 and attended Kilgore College where she received several Business Certificates and was working towards her bachelor’s degree with DeVry University. Ms. Tanner started her retail career at Treasure City in Longview, then later went to work at Kilgore Community House as a custodian. Liz went back into retail at Lowe’s in Longview and Tyler as customer service desk manager and cash office manager for many years. Wanting a change, she worked at Dollar General in Longview as store manager as well as Walmart in the cash office. Liz finished her retail career at Home Depot as first a stocker and then transferred to the merchandising crew where she worked for almost 12 years. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Liberty City and rededicated her life to Christ in 1990. Liz loved dogs especially her dog, Hersey, and was an avid reader. In her younger years she loved classic Rock-In-Roll and listening to Elvis, but later found a love for contemporary Christian music. She was a joy to be around. Liz was always concerned about everyone she knew and always put others before herself. Liz loved to make people laugh and had a smile that could light up a room. Her greatest joy of all was being a grannie. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and aunt and will be missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.S. Stanley and Johnie Mae Davidson Stanley Rodgers, and grandparents, Roscoe and Mary Davidson and John S. and Opal Earl Stanley.

Liz is survived by her daughter, Donna Knight and husband Bill; sister, Sue Hearn of Texarkana. Texas; grandchildren, Corey Knight, Dakoda Knight and Colton Knight; nephew, Woody Hearn and wife Kathy of Texarkana; niece, Wendy Richie and husband Scott of Liberty City; cousins, Ralph Walters of Hallsville, Johnny Davidson of McKinney, Sandy Tinney of Kilgore and Joe “Rusty” Davidson of Kilgore; seven great nieces and nephews and numerous other loving family members.
