Fannie Mae “Gran Fan” Burns gained her wings on June 18th, 2024, at home while surrounded by family. Fannie was born a “coal miner’s daughter” on January 7th, 1948, and was one of four children raised by Randolph T. Osburn and Katherine Irene Alsop Osborn on a farm in Madisonville, Kentucky. Fannie moved to Texas after meeting the love of her life LeeRoy Burns Jr., whom she knew to be a once in a lifetime love after less than a month. Fannie was many things in her lifetime- an aide, an attendant, a beautician, a homemaker, and janitorial staff- but Fannie prided herself on being a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, and so much more. Fannie was known for her dedication to her faith and love for God, her kindness and tireless love for helping others, and her unmatched work ethic that kept her up and going. Fannie was also known for her mischievous grin and oh-so telling facial expressions, her feistiness even until her final moments, her willingness to say exactly what was on her mind, and for her delicious desserts like banana pudding and pecan pie. Fannie was a lover of fishing, reading, the Chinese buffet, her soap operas, her fur babies, dirt track and Nasar racing, and piggies.
Fannie has now been reunited with her mother and father, her husband of 35 years LeeRoy, her brother Randy “Bubby” Osburn, her sister Betty Landsden, her brother-in-law Gregg Creasy, her son-in-love Troy Fleming, Danyiel Bowles, and an arm full of fur babies who preceded her.
Fannie’s memory is lived on by her daughters and son in laws- Vicki and Eddie Fleming of Kilgore, Lisa Stewart and Brandon Harrod of Kilgore; her grandchildren Malayna Cheyenne of Tyler; Desiree Fleming and Payeton “Bill” Wallace of Kilgore, Kamryn and Taylor Clinton of Kilgore, her sister Bea Creasy of Madisonville, Kentucky; her sisters-in-law; her fur-babies Skeeter and Greenly; various nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends who she considered family.
Services for Fannie will begin with a visitation held Friday, June 21, 2024 from five until seven o’clock in the evening at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Fannie's funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Laird Hill Baptist Church in Laird Hill, Texas at eleven o’clock in the morning.
