Fay Ann Leach, a beloved member of the Kilgore community, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 2, 1936, in the Danville Community, Fay's life was a remarkable journey filled with love, dedication, and unparalleled achievements.
Fay was not only a devoted wife, daughter and sister but also a proud mother and grandmother who cherished her family dearly. She is survived by her beloved daughter Cheryl Darden and husband Johnny, granddaughter Katy Cotton and husband J.W., and two great grandchildren, Callie and Kerby Cotton; a niece Robin Hiles as well as many other loving family and friends.
A trailblazer in the world of rodeo, Fay and her husband Billy owned and operated a thriving cattle business, which served as a testament to her unwavering work ethic and passion for the rodeo lifestyle. They were the proud owners of the Billy Leach Rope Company, leaving a significant mark on the industry. Her captivating spirit and love for horseback riding remained steadfast throughout her life, and even at 85 years old, she continued to ride, embodying the heart of a true equestrian.
Fay Ann had a strong faith in God and was a longtime devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Fay was married to her beloved husband Billy Leach in 1967, a union that blended love and shared passions that lasted a lifetime. Her involvement in rodeo extended beyond the ring, as she played a vital role in the establishment of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. In 2023, her hard work and dedication were recognized when she was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, an accomplishment that highlighted her legacy as a competitor, board member, and founding member of the organization. From 1959 to 1970, she qualified for 11 National Finals Rodeo events, finishing third in the world in 1962. As a dedicated member of the GRA Board of Directors in the mid-1960s, she oversaw both barrel racing and calf roping, marking her influence on future generations of rodeo athletes.

Fay's life will be celebrated with visitation on January 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, located at 401 North Martin Street in Kilgore, Texas.
