Freda Yvonne Mitchell, born on January 25, 1936, in Jacksonville, Texas, passed away on November 19, 2024, in Longview, Texas. A dedicated nurse and compassionate caregiver, Freda worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at Henderson Hospital and numerous doctor's offices throughout her career in the east Texas area. Freda was a proud member of First Baptist Church, where she shared her faith and spirit with others. She was also actively involved in the Pilot Club and Home Demonstrations Club, where her warm heart and willingness to lend a hand made a lasting impact on those around her.

 At the age of 50, Freda achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating as the valedictorian of the LVN program at Kilgore College. This accomplishment stands as a testament to her perseverance and dedication to both her personal growth and her profession.

Freda is survived by her daughter, Susan Reiger of Kilgore, Texas; her son, Kenneth "Mitch" Mitchell and Janet of Liberty City, Texas; her sister, Kathy and Gary Stewart of Kilgore; and her brother, Dennis Yancey of Kilgore. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Shelley Combs of White Oak, Texas; Matt Henderson of Ft. Worth, Texas; Jeremy Simmons of Palestine, Texas; Melanie Rosario of Kilgore, Texas; Christopher Reiger of Sandpoint, Idaho and Graydon Reiger of Longview. 

Freda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Mitchell in 2005; her daughter, Sherri Gayle Mitchell; her parents, Cecil Yancey and Mable Yancey; and her brothers, Kenneth Yancey and Jerry Delwyn Yancey.

Freda Yvonne Mitchell will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family and her profession. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared with all who knew her. Private services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
