Gale Rayland Myers

August 9, 1938 — June 20, 2023

Gale Rayland Myers, 84 of Kilgore, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior,

Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was born in Vivian, Louisiana to

Jacob R. Myers and Opal Patterson Myers on August 9, 1938.

Gale served in the US Army and the Army National Guard.

He was a longtime member of FBC Liberty City, enjoyed singing bass in the choir

and was active in the Sojourners Sunday School Class. He had a heart for “Prison Ministry” and embraced every opportunity he had to share his testimony. Gale was most proud of his

commitment to the AA Program of Recovery and his 38 years of SOBRIETY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing BINGO. It is told that he saved his BINGO winnings…all quarters and recently had as much as $ 38.75 in his piggy bank. Gale was famous for being SANTA CLAUS in the Liberty City Christmas Parade for many years. He was an ENTHUSIASTIC FAN of “Texas Rangers Baseball”!!! Often, he would go to bed before the games were over, but anxiously jumped up the next morning asking “Who WON”? It should be well noted that he LOVED his dog and companion, BUCKSHOT!

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Patricia A. Myers of Kilgore, TX;

sons, Clifford Myers of Kilgore, TX and Will Myers and wife, Jenny of Kilgore, TX;

step-sons, Mark Hurtubise and wife, Pita of Gladewater, TX and Billy Gwaltney and wife, Diane of Quitman, TX; sisters, Glenda Stafford of Kilgore, TX and Belinda Tigert and husband, David of Bay City, TX; numerous grand-children, great grand-children, nieces and nephews.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob R. Myers and Opal J. Myers; brother, Dale Myers; and step-son, Michael “Bo” James.
