Services for Gary Leon Odom, Sr, 71, of Kilgore will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at four o’clock in the afternoon at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend David Hampton officiating. Gary completed his earthly journey following a courageous battle with cancer on April 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary Leon Odom, Sr. was born on April 24, 1950, in Laurel, Mississippi to Jean Peters Odom and Charles Leon “Shorty” Odom. After graduating high school Gary attended classes at USM (University of Southern Mississippi.) He worked in sales in the oil and gas industry for the majority of his career. Recently he worked for LTW Services in Kilgore and loved his career. Gary never met a stranger and was fondly called “tall-boy” by his fellow East Texas colleagues. He was a dedicated father to his four children and adored his grandchildren. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Gary enjoyed back-roading, sippin’ a cold one, and watching football and golf. He especially enjoyed football when the New Orleans Saints or the Ole Miss Rebels were playing. Gary always put other first and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was reunited with his parents, Jean Peters Odom and Charles Leon “Shorty” Odom, sister, Pat Bauer, and best friend Travis Bass.
Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his children, Gary Leon Odom, Jr. and wife Kimberly Odom of New Braunfels, Taylor Odom and fiancé Taylor Sanders of Henderson, Kelsey Odom and fiancé Louis Rhodes of Diana, and Nicholas Odom of Leander, grandchildren, Jayce Odom, Grayson Odom, Adelynn McKenzie, Benson Cash, Brynlee Skye, and “Rowdy” Koleson Lane Rhodes, and brothers, Chuck Odom and wife Jennifer Odom of Laurel, Mississippi, Michael Odom and wife Holly Odom of Hallsville, wife, Ladonna Allison Miles Odom of Edgewood, stepson, Micah Hoard and daughter Maddilynn Hoard of Edgewood, stepson, Matthew Hoard of Scurry, and children Corbin, Harper, and Emmitt Hoard.
