Services for George Pendergast, 73 of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Kilgore Bible Church with Pastor Barry Metz officiating. Private family burial will follow at Danville Cemetery. Mr. Pendergast passed away on Friday, December 17 at his residence in Kilgore.
George was born on October 1, 1948, in Bozeman, Montana to the late Francis Victor Pendergast, Jr. and Betty Lou Statham. Mr. Pendergast worked as a Project Engineer for Gilroy Foods, Inc. in Gilroy, California for 17 years. After taking an early retirement from engineering, George moved to Sonora, California, and started a handyman business. He used this business as a way to minister to widows and many others in need. George resided in Big Sandy prior to moving to Kilgore in 2015. He volunteered at International Alert Academy in Big Sandy since 2005 and is a member of Kilgore Bible Church in Kilgore. George was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather “Vati” who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a big kid at heart who played equally as hard as he worked. He loved adventure in the great outdoors and was very active—hiking, bicycling, river-rafting, scuba-diving, running, camping, golfing, water-skiing and snow-skiing. He was also an avid coin collector. But his dearest love was the author of love Himself, the Lord Jesus. He was a man of conviction, who passionately sought after and served His Lord; as well as the people around him.
George is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Pendergast of Kilgore; daughters, Beth Martinez and husband Raymond of Tyler, and Amanda Pendergast of Tyler; sons, Keon Pendergast and wife Corrie of Kilgore, and Elijah Pendergast of Kilgore; sisters, Vickyln Kotschedoff of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Jean Lugo of Clovis, California; brother, Robert Pendergast of Sebastopol, California; grandchildren, Katy Pendergast, Connor Pendergast, Clayton Pendergast, Kristyn Pendergast, Lydia Martinez, Anna Martinez and Micah Martinez and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members.
