George Melvin Spruill, Jr.

George Melvin Spruill, Jr., 78, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place the morning of August 15, 2024. Better known to all as "Butch", he was down to earth with a heart as big as Texas. 

 Butch entered this world on March 23, 1946, in Kilgore, TX, born to George and Mildred Spruill. Butch married his best friend and love of his life Margaret Laverne Lee in 1969. The two were inseparable, through all things they were at one another's side. He was a proud family man and spent his time building memories onto which his family holds dear. Butch was a hard worker and opened his own business. As owner of Spruill Roofing, Butch maintained his business until his retirement. After many years of hard work, Butch enjoyed over twenty years of retirement. 

 In passing, Butch was reunited with his beloved wife of 53 years Margaret Spruill, his parents, and grandparents. 

Left to cherish his memory are his children James and Janie Romans, grandson James Roman II, his siblings; Danny Joe and Debbie Spruill, Mary Ann and Bobby Birdsong, siblings-in-law; Billy and Brenda Russel, Beth and Frank Haskins, nieces; Stormy Spruill, Lindsey Korff, Kristy Reider, and Mindy Milam, nephew Donnie Lee, special furry friend and faithful canine companion Molly, as well as many great nieces, great nephews, and friends. Butch spent his life loving his family and friends, he is dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

 A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 19 at 10:00 am at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home Kilgore. Butch will be laid to rest in Danville Cemetery.
