Homer Cletis Guthrie

Graveside services for Homer Cletis Guthrie, 82 of Kilgore will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Hampton officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Guthrie passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Guthrie was born on October 12, 1940 in Gilmer, Texas to the late Homer and Pauline Guthrie. He was raised in Kilgore and graduated from Sabine High School. Cletis worked in the oilfield industry and retired from Arco Oil Company. Mr. Guthrie loved the game of baseball and enjoyed coaching his sons while they were growing up. He married Elaine Chastain in 1960 until her death in 2005 and later married Betty Maxine Smith in 2007. Mr. Guthrie dearly loved his entire family and will be missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Pauline Guthrie, first wife, Joyce Elaine Guthrie; brother, Gaylon Guthrie and sister, Karen Guthrie Procell.

Mr. Guthrie is survived by his daughter, Tina Guthrie Henry of Henderson; sons, Mike Guthrie of Kilgore and Darren Guthrie of Conroe; grandchildren, Allison Guthrie, Blake Guthrie, Al Grush, Amber Grush, Morgan Guthrie, Christian Guthrie and Cody Guthrie; five great grandchildren; step-son, Kevin Smith and Christine; step grandchildren, Cody Smith, Kristin Overstreet and Ravyn Smith and six step great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
