Horace Toby Horton

Visitation at Rader Funeral Home  for Horace “Toby”  Horton has been canceled due to the power outage in Kilgore.

Horace “Toby” Horton, 62, of Kilgore, Texas, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023. He was born in Longview, Texas, on September 26, 1960, to Joe Clyde Horton and Eldie Lee Deal Horton. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas and was retired from Precinct 4, Gregg County, Texas as a heavy machinery operator. He later went into business for himself. He once owned property in Alaska and loved traveling there among other places.

Toby will be remembered as a “Sold out Christian”, obscenely generous to those in need. An extremely honored man, very slow to anger as described by his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, driving large trucks (movers), and once raced dirt bikes. He enjoyed family cook outs, where he got to barbeque and fry fish. Toby loved to watch cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd and many others. Most of all, he loved his family dearly.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sarah, of Kilgore, Texas: daughter, Leigh Ann Horton, son, Joe Horton; aunt, Fay Horton Leach, all of Kilgore; uncle, TD Deal and wife Margaret of DeQuincy, LA.; sister, Amy Barrentine and husband, Robert, of Grapevine, AR.; sister-in-law and husband, Theresa and Ray Hanson; nephews: Dillon Kyle Horton, Matthew Kyle Horton, Christian Lane Goff and wife Kenzie, Daniel Horton Barrentine; nieces: Tiffany Szymarek and husband Gregg, Logan Bolanos and husband, Danny; Courtni Williams, Sophie Barrentine; bonus brothers, Larry Kincaid, Joe Sanders and Bill Hopkins. Toby will be missed by many.

Toby is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Clyde and Eldie Lee Horton and his brother, Richard Kyle Horton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 140069, Dallas, TX, 75214 and Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church of Kilgore.
