James Horton

Cremation arrangements for Mr. James Edward Horton, 76, of Kilgore are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Horton was born on July 9, 1947, in Tyler, Texas and passed away on October 3, 2023, in Tyler. James Horton was the son of the late Daniel and Martha Horton. James served his country in the United States Navy.

James enjoyed living in Alaska for 20 years and traveled back as often as he could. He loved exploring Alaska as a bush pilot as well as gold mining, hiking and fishing. James was a collector of old photos, books, and mementos of his travels and of Kilgore.

Mr. Horton was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 35 years, Juanita Martin Horton.

He is survived by his four children, Richard Horton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jamie Horton Williams of Victor, Idaho, Lynn Harbert Fulks of San Marcos, California, and John Harbert of Houston, Texas; brother, Robert Horton of Kilgore; sisters, Debbie Bain of Bryan, Texas, and Sue Sewell of Kilgore; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
