Services for James William Nicks, 70, of Kilgore will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at two o’clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church in Kilgore officiated by Reverend David Hampton and Dr. Glenn Young. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from one till two at First Baptist Church in Kilgore. Burial will immediately follow the service at Kilgore City Cemetery.
Bill went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1951, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, son of the late Clyde and Winnie Nicks. Bill attended Kilgore High School and then went into the Air Force. He retired from Kilgore College as an electrician in the maintenance department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved his Sunday School Class. Bill loved helping others through the church and in his own special ways. He loved sports but golfing was his passion. He was so good he achieved a position in the Eisenhower Tournament in Tyler.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Judy of 48 years and his daughter Emily Nicks (spouse-Katie Tavey; sister, Christine Hancock (spouse-Steve, brother Jerry Nicks (spouse-Barbara), grandchildren Luka Tavey-Nicks and Maeli Tavey-Nicks all of Kilgore; niece, Kimberly Kirkland (spouse-Paul); nephews, Joshua Hancock, Tate Nicks(spouse-Summer), Eli Nicks(fiancée-Rachel) and great niece, Caelyn Pilette & great nephew, Kaden Kirkland; several cousins, Aunts & Uncles and his fur baby Connor.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials or donations can be given to First Baptist Church Kilgore-Nehemiah Project or Helping Hands of Kilgore.
