Jimmie Gene Palmer

Funeral service for Mr. Jimmie Palmer, 80, of Kilgore will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Kilgore with Dr. Glenn Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Palmer passed away at his home on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Jimmie was born on August 19, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas to Jimmie and Gwendolyn Palmer. Mr. Palmer moved to Kilgore in 1947. Jimmie was a graduate of Kilgore High School in 1961 and some of his fondest memories are of attending his high school reunions and keeping in touch with his classmates. Jimmie owned and operated the Palmer’s Store in 1969 and later operated Palmer Antiques store in Kilgore. Mr. Palmer was a member of First Baptist Church in Kilgor and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was a licensed FFL dealer. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Charyl McBride Palmer; parents, Jimmie Giles Palmer and Gwendolyn Howell Palmer.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Drake of Whitesboro, Texas; nieces, Kimberly Drake-Loy and husband Jeff of Bedford, Texas and Kelly Drake of Whitesboro, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Barbara Duncan of Kilgore; grandchildren, Shelby Dillard and husband Brandon, Cody Duncan and wife, Abbie, Neely Duncan, Blake Duncan, Zachary Balboa. and Elijah Duncan; great grandchildren, Parker Dillard, Easton Duncan, Lakelynn Duncan and Dawson Balboa; cousin, Becky Palmer McKain of New Mexico as well as numerous other loving family members.
