Jo Francis May

Services for Mrs. Jo Francis May, 86, of Kilgore, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at eleven o’clock in the morning at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Kenny Dyess speaking. A visitation will be held prior to the service from ten until eleven o’clock in the morning at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove cemetery in Kilgore. Jo completed her earthly journey on Friday, July 14, 2023, in Kilgore, Texas.

Jo was born on March 2nd, 1937, in Longstreet, Louisiana to Bessie Roberts and Newman Strain Attaway Sr. She married the love of her life, Arlis Ray May on December 24, 1954. They shared sixty-seven joyful years of marriage and two children together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rhonda Lynne Gaspard and husband Audie Gaspard of Kilgore, son, Arlis Darwin May and wife Denise May of Redoak, Texas, sisters Brenda Ann James of Kansas City, Missouri, Carol Sue Prince of Stonewall, Louisiana and brother Harold Gene Attaway of Springfield, Missouri, grandchildren, Leana Lee and husband Dirk Lee of Longview, Waylon Hildebrand and wife Kristin Hildebrand of New London, Miranda May of Redoak, Texas, Ashley May of Redoak, great-grandchildren, Grayson Lee, Brooklyn Lee, Lily Hildebrand, Toby Hildebrand, Joey Hildebrand, Mckayla Ross, Brylie Ross, and Layni Carlstorm, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving friends and family members.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Arlis R. May, parents, siblings, sister, Bobbie Myers, sister, Huey May White, sister, Dorothy Jane Holmes, sister, Mary Louise Deen, brother, Newman Strain Attaway, Jr., and brother, Lewis Edward Attaway.
