Joe Wendell Clark

Joe Clark, 76, of Tatum, Texas passed away in his home on Saturday, January 28, 2023 after a long bout of multiple illnesses. He was born in Kilgore and went on to attend Sabine and Kilgore Schools. He briefly attended Kilgore College before enlisting in the Air Force. During this time he married Mary Poteet of Liberty City and remained married for 56 years. Joe enjoyed the thrill of the deal, country and bluegrass music, horseback riding, raising livestock, hunting, and working outside on their property near Tatum. He worked for Central Freight Lines in Longview as a dock foreman and Rusk County Precinct No. 2 in the Road & Bridge Maintenance department. Joe wanted everyone to know that Jesus is LORD and The Way, The Truth, and The Life. He found comfort in his faith, and he tried to share that with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Clark; mother, Hazel Morris; and brothers, Jerry and Mack Clark; sister, Connie Duggins; brother-in-law, Earl Buddy Duggins; grandsons, Nathan and Zach Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Clark of Tatum ; son, Julian Clint of Tatum; son, Roger Clark of Tatum; son, Nolan Clark and daughter-in-law, Wendy of Houston; daughter, Laura Reed and son-in-law, Allen Reed of Aubrey; grandchildren, Vance Clark, Candace Clark, Alex Clark, Karsyn Clark, Coleman Clark, Clark Reed, and Callum Reed; sisters-in-law, Angie Clark of Kilgore and Patty Clark of Arlington, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Hickory Grove Cemetery outside of Kilgore, with Robert Johnson and Walter Holsomback officiating.
