John D. Fouse, affectionately known as "Papa John," was born on December 30, 1930, in Kilgore, Texas. He peacefully departed from this world on March 27, 2025, also in Kilgore, where he dedicated his life to family, friends, and his cherished community. John was a hard-working, friendly man whose life was a testament to devotion and resilience.
With a career marked by his entrepreneurial spirit, John owned several businesses throughout his lifetime and also proudly served as a truck driver. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were admired by all who knew him. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was equally passionate about his hobbies, particularly fishing, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones, sharing tranquil moments on the water that they will cherish forever.
John’s military service in the U.S. Army was a significant part of his life. He carried the values learned during his time in service into his everyday interactions, treating all with kindness and respect. Family was the cornerstone of John’s existence; he poured love into every moment he spent with them.
He leaves behind his beloved son Bill (Karen) Fouse and son Scott (Cathy) Withers, alongside his adored grandchildren: Patrick (Sabrina) Fouse, Aaron Fouse, Ashley Fouse, Emily McCullough, Sara (Louie) Scott, and Samantha Fouse as well as his cherished great-grandchildren: Allison, Nathyn, Ember, Garrett, Lucas, Ava, Alexander, and Braden. John’s legacy will continue to live on through them as they carry his lessons of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family forward.
John joins his beloved wife and best friend, Lois Fouse, in eternal rest, along with his sons Larry and Donnie Fouse, his father Buren Fouse, his mother Ivena McGee, stepfather Tommy McGee, sister Margaret Stokley, and his precious grandchildren Betsy, Joshua, and Trudi, who have departed before him. The love and bond they shared will be honored in the hearts of their family, forever guiding those who remain.
A graveside service will be held at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery on April 1, 2025, starting at 10:00 A.M., with a gathering of friends and family to celebrate John's life. As we say goodbye to a remarkable father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend, let us remember him for the laughter, guidance, and unwavering love he so freely gave to us all.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lanka for over 30 years of exceptional care provided to John, as well as to Hospice of East Texas, particularly Judy and Stacy, for their compassionate support during his final days.
