Larry E. Longmire

Larry Edward Longmire, 75, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Longview. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Abundant Life Church in Gladewater. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Interment will take place at Danville Cemetery.

Larry was born February 18, 1944 in Enville, Tennessee to John Edward Longmire and Gracie Pauline Barton Longmire. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was an Expert Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and (Rifle M-16). Larry was a man who could do anything when given a challenge. He was a mechanic by trade but could do woodwork, electrical and everything in between. He even built the family home brick by brick, doing all the work himself. He worked for Kilgore Plumbing. Larry had a very dry and funny sense of humor. He would do anything he could to help others and he loved his family tremendously. His loving and giving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Terry and Stanley Longmire; and sister-in-law, Sherry Longmire.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara Longmire of Kilgore; Shane Longmire and his wife, Julie and Dwayne Longmire and his wife, Mandi; daughter, Amy Longmire Toerck and her husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Christopher Longmire, Andrew Longmire, Alyssa Longmire, Bethanie Longmire, Matthew Longmire, Makayla Longmire, Nikki Dumas, Dwayne Longmire, Jr., Caleb Longmire, Jordan Toerck and Morgan Toerck; brothers, Gary Longmire and his wife, Paula and Jerry Longmire and his wife, Joy; sister Linda Joyner and her husband, Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
