Memorial services for Lary Nixon, 76 of Kilgore will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Texan Theater in Kilgore. Lary passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, in Longview.
Lary was born February 18, 1946, in Gladewater, Texas to the late James Maxwell Nixon and Willie Frances Crabtree. Mr. Nixon was co-owner of Geonix Oil Company and was part of the Geonix family for over 20 years. Lary enjoyed coon and dove hunting, fishing, working with his horses and going to the horse races. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle who will be missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Johnnie Maxine Nixon Kalius and brother, Samuel Nixon.
Mr. Nixon is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances Darlene Nixon of Kilgore; children, Stacey Handley of Kilgore, Channen Handley of Kilgore and Cary Handley of Kilgore; sister, Glenda Nixon Gentry of De Leon, Kathleen Marie Nixon Cuellar of Oklahoma and Jerry Ann Nixon Cooper of Ft. Worth, Texas, Texas; brothers, Joe David Nixon, Sr. of Rotan, Texas and Thomas William Nixon of Benton, Louisiana; grandchild, Sunny Lara of Kilgore; great grandchildren, Keelie Coffman ad Amaziah Lara; sister-in-law, Sharlene Robbinett and husband Bart and mother-in-law, Imogene Cook as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members.
