A Celebration of Life for Lewis “Ed” Baker, 81, of Kilgore, will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Pastor Mike Gribble officiating. Mr. Baker completed his earthly journey on Thursday, September 24, 2020 in Kilgore surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Ed was born on January 11, 1939 in Hanford, California to the late Joseph Arnold Baker and Mary Ann Hanes. Mr. Baker served in the US Navy as a “Seabee” and was a member of Victory Road Baptist Church since 2003. He worked for the Kilgore Fire Department for 17 years where he served as Fire Marshall in 1982 and retired in 1986, after retirement Mr. Baker moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked for the Labor Union for many years until his retirement in 2000. Ed enjoyed antique cars, the dice game Farkle, Bingo and painting. His family was the source of his strength and spending time with them was when he was happiest.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Darrel Baker and wife Bobbie of Kilgore, Patti Cole and husband Matt of Liberty City, Peggy Wade and husband David of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dewayne “Butch” Baker and wife Wendy of Big Sandy and Penny Hummel and husband Frank of Jourdanton; grandchildren, Amanda Bradley and husband Brian, Tiffany Baker, Jacob Wade and Paula Campa, Heather Wade, Alicia Wade, David Yerkes and wife Rebecca, Bandon Cole and wife Hannah, Brittany Cole, Alaska Stone, Trevor Baker, Morghan Baker, Sydney Baker and Katie Baker; great grandchildren, Jenner Baker Bradley, Kenzi Baker, Keiton Baker, Magdalena Wade, Jordyn Yerkes and Tobias Baker. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Baker; brothers, sisters and two great grandchildren.
