Louise Mcclure Cammack

August 2, 1928 — October 19, 2023

Louise McClure Cammack passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on October 19, 2023.

She was born on August 2, 1928 in Electra, TX to Daniel Joseph McClure and Louise Morrow McClure. Louise's parents were from Arkansas and as so many families during those years, they left Arkansas to find work when Electra became a boomtown and work was plentiful. Their family moved to Kilgore when oil was struck in the East Texas Oilfield in the early 1930s.

She married Benjamin Franklin Cammack, Jr. in 1949 and enjoyed 59 years of happiness.

Louise was a Medical Lab Technician working at the first hospital in Kilgore and then for Drs. Simmons, Routon, Ott, Robberson, and Velinsky. After the Kilgore Doctors Clinic closed she worked for the Overton Hospital and then for Dr. Hamilton until she was 91. For the last decade or so, Louise was the only remaining General Lab Technician still licensed in the State of Texas.

Louise was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church and this was the church family where she and Ben, Jr. raised their boys.

Louise is survived by her granddaughter, Tracy Cammack Ingram and husband, Obie of Locust Grove, GA, and grandson, Christopher Michael Cammack and wife, Annette, Mena Arkansas. Louise was blessed with great grandchildren, Brittany Kolar, Hunter Cammack, Alex Cammack, and Sam Cammack. She got a new light in her life two years ago with great great grandson, Jacob James Kolar. She was so looking forward to holding and loving her first great great granddaughter, Anna Kolar, who will be coming in February 2024.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Ben, sons, Ben Cammack III, James Richard Cammack, Robert (Bobby) Elmore Cammack, her parents, and siblings, Catherine Lawrence and Dan McClure.

There will be a graveside service at the Kilgore City Cemetery at 2pm Monday October 23, 2023 with Rev. David Hampton officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Loved ones and family will be having lunch prior to the service at Mckay's Monday at noon. As there will be no visitation, friends are welcome to join us for lunch.

Louise's wishes were to have any memorable tributes to be made to the James Richard Cammack Band Scholarship managed by KISD.
