Marilyn Sue Summers

Services for Marilyn Sue Summers, 83 of Kilgore will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Nicholson officiating. Private family burial will follow at Danville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to service. Mrs. Summers passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022, in Kilgore.

Ms. Summers was born May 24, 1939, in Kilgore, TX to the late Walter and Bessie Lee Smith. Marilyn was a graduate of Kilgore High School and received her associate degree from Kilgore College. She worked for Galena Park ISD, Citizens Bank of Kilgore, and in her later years in the child nutrition department at the Region VII Educational Service Center. Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Mimi). She enjoyed spending her free time with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Joe Wyatt Summers Jr. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Stacy and Mark Dixon of Plano and Cindy and Jack Venable of Kilgore; two brothers-in law and a sister-in-law Charlie and Patsy Sue Summers of Lantana and Lewis Summers of New London; four grandchildren Alexis Dixon, Ally Venable, Brooke Dixon, and Dylan Venable.
