It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Ellen Haughey, lovingly known as Marti, on March 14, 2025, at the age of 77. Marti was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering determination, and boundless kindness. Her life was one of service, love, and devotion, and she touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marti proudly served her country in the United States Air Force, where her exceptional leadership and commitment set her apart. Known for her strong will and unshakable resolve, Marti faced every challenge head-on, never backing down. Her tenacity, combined with her compassionate spirit, inspired those around her to do their best and persevere, no matter what the obstacles.
Martha was born on May 17, 1947 in Portales, New Mexico. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Marti’s love and devotion were the cornerstones of her family. She was the steady presence everyone could rely on, offering her unconditional love, support, and wisdom. Her loyalty to her loved ones was steadfast, and her devotion was felt in everything she did. Marti also had a passion for travel, eagerly exploring new places and savoring every experience. But above all, she cherished the simple joys in life—whether it was a friendly game of cards, reading a good book, or sharing a quiet moment with her family. Her laughter, warmth, and generosity made her a beloved figure in the lives of her friends and family, and her spirit will live on in all the beautiful memories she created.
Marti leaves behind her devoted husband of 52 years, Bernard 'Chip' Haughey; her brother, J.R. Drennan of Kilgore, Texas; her sister, Jean and her husband Bob Stoner; her children, Bernie and Angie Haughey of Camden Point, Missouri; Sean and Teddi Haughey of Van Buren, Arkansas; and Anya Haughey of Kilgore, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Tiana Miles of Marysville, Washington, Eric Haughey, Julius and Aubrey Johnson, Breann and John Beaver, Tamra and T.J.
