Martha June Kunkel Huntley, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Tatum on March 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 27, 1938, in White Oak, she exemplified a life filled with compassion, kindness, and unwavering faith.
A graduate of White Oak High School in 1957 and later a student at Kilgore College, Martha embarked on a multifaceted career as an Emergency Dispatcher, bookkeeper, and caregiver. Her professional life was marked by her remarkable ability to connect with people, always offering support and understanding to those in need.
Martha’s greatest pride was her family, which she nurtured with the utmost love and dedication. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Julie (Randy) Reid and her son, Bobby Huntley. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Randall Reid Jr., David Lea Reid, and Samantha Huntley, and her great-grandchildren, Xander Reid, Brooke Reid, and Roxy Reid. Each of them were touched by her loving spirit and guidance, instilling in them the values she held dear.
Through her life, Martha had many interests that painted a vivid picture of her joyous soul. She was a woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and soul, praying fervently for those around her. A true prayer warrior, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Additionally, Martha had a deep passion for gardening, cultivating her garden as a reflection of her nurturing nature. Her home was always filled with the warmth of delicious meals, especially those prepared for her grandson David, where culinary delights became a shared experience of love.
Martha took immense joy in watching her children perform in horse shows, cheering for them as a proud supporter of their barrel racing and roping endeavors. Every moment spent with her family was a testament to her love and commitment, creating countless memories that will forever be cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arbert Kunkel and Ganell Kunkel, her husband, Johnnie Huntley, her sister, Jeri Parsons, and her granddaughter, Rachel Reid. Martha’s departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those left behind.
In her final moments, Martha was enveloped in love, a reflection of the life she lived so selflessly. Her family and friends will carry her memory forward, honoring the legacy of warmth, devotion, and faith that she so beautifully embodied. As they celebrate her life, they will always remember her as a guiding light, a steadfast supporter, and above all, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
