Mary Katherine Hunter

Mary Katherine (McAlexander)Hunter, age 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her home in Kilgore, Texas. Mary was born on July 23, 1925 in Vivian, Louisiana to parents James Ira and Etta Eulala (Maxwell) McAlexander. Preceded in death by sisters Faye Foster, Nettie LaRoux, and brother William (Bill) McAlexander. She is survived by sister Valine Bennett of Kilgore, Texas.

On January 2, 1943 she married Albert Hunter in Bossier City, Louisiana and became a military wife and homemaker. Together Albert and Mary had five children, and were stationed at Air Force bases in Panama, Alexandria, Louisiana, Great Falls, Montana, Anchorage, Alaska and Montgomery, Alabama. She was preceded in death by husband Albert in 1997.

Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud Mimi, Mee maw, and Grandma to seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Her sass and quick wit made her a delight to be around. She loved her church where her faith and testimony were an inspiration to all. She was a wealth of knowledge and stories, and if you knew her you loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her children Sharon Griesser and husband Hank of Longview, Texas, James Dale of Kilgore, Texas, Lainey Hamberlin and husband Gary of Gilmer, Texas, Tina Hunter Smith and husband Tom of Bullard, Texas, Maxwell Hunter and wife Debra Lynn of Houston, Texas.

Services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Rev. David Hampton officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
