Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jeanette Mizell Welch, 82, of Hallsville will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Hallsville cemetery. Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021, at her home with her loving sister Nancy by her side.

Mary was born on August 1, 1938, in Hallsville, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Walter Pargo Mizell, Jr and Nannie Viola Tilley. Mary was a graduate of Hallsville High School and graduated from SFA in 1966 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She continued her education further by receiving her Master’s Degree from SFA in Biology. Mary was married to the late Charles William “Bear” Welch, and they shared a son, Phillip Austin Welch. She was a teacher at Pine Tree ISD for 29 years. Mary was a member of TSTA (Texas State Teachers Association), Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Chi, and of Eastview Baptist Church of Kilgore. She will be remembered as a loving mother, dedicated teacher, kindhearted friend, who will be missed by many.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Pargo Mizell Jr. and Nannie Viola Tilley, her husband, Charles William “Bear” Welch, and her son, Phillip Austin Welch.

Mary is survived by her sister, Nancy Colclasure, nephew, Walter Colclasure, Niece, Nancy Kay Hudson, special friends, Dwight Lankford, Brent Lankford and Cecil Minor, along with numerous family members and beloved friends.
